1st September 2010 Flu Vaccination 2010 |
Everyone over the age of 65, and anyone with certain medical conditions, is recommended to receive an annual flu jab. The medical conditions include, heart disease, diabetes, asthma, chronic lung disease, history of cancer, but this list is NOT comprehensive, if you are uncertain, please ask whether you should have a flu jab. We will be starting our flu vaccination program at the begining of October. Please telephone the surgery to make an appointment. Please note if you are coming to the surgery to see either Brenda or one of the Doctors during October we will give you your flu jab then - you do not need a separate appointment. |
1st September 2010 Chlamydia Screening |
Aged 15 to 25 and sexually active? Please consider doing a simple test for chlamydia. Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted infection which you can have without being aware of. It can cause pelvic infection and infertility. You can pick up a simple test pack at the surgery (a different one for men and women), do the test your self either in the surgery or at home and return the pack to us at the sugery. You will then receive a text message or phone call with the result within three weeks. If you test positive you will be given fully confidential information about treatment and support. |
| 1st September 2010 The HPV Vaccination |
This programme to protect teenage girls under the age of 18 against cervical cancer was launched in Autumn 2008 through the school nursing service. Many of you will already have had your three vaccinations. If you were aged 17 to 19 on the 31/08/10 you should by now have had 3 doses of the HPV vaccine. If you have not please contact the surgery to book an appointment with Brenda the Nurse. If you are aged 19 to 25 and wish to get vaccinated, you can receive the immunisation at the surgery, but you will have to arrange to collect the vaccination from the Goudhurst Pharmacy (for which you will have to pay a prescription charge). Please discuss this with the receptionist, or if you have any worries ask to speak to Brenda. Girls under 17 should receive the vaccination through the school system. If you have left school and have not had three jabs please contact the surgery to make an appointment. Click here for more information. |
14th June 2010 Patient Surveys |
The Department of Health sends out patient satisfaction surveys on a quarterly basis to randomly selected patients. We receive the results of these and use them to aid our future planning. We know they are tedious to complete but we do listen to what you say and find your views extremely useful. We would be grateful if you could continue to complete and return them should you receive one. View our latest Patient Survey results. |

| 31st May 2009 PANDEMIC FLU/SWINE FLU |
Currently (as of May 2009) this seems to be dying down but it is very likely that it will return in the Autumn. We await advice from the Department of Health on the flu vaccination programme this year and this page will be updated when we have more information about this. Currently local GPs are discussing how services will be provided if flu creates an overwhelming workload coupled with health professionals themselves being off sick. It may be that surgeries will get together to provide services and you may be required to go to another surgery for help. It may also be the case that our surgery will deal with non flu problems in the mornings and flu illness in the afternoons so that the surgery building can be aired and cleaned overnight. Old Parsonage Surgery has already ordered extra supplies of masks, aprons and hand cleaning gels. For the moment our Swine Flu advice is: SWINE FLU The typical symptoms are: Recent travel to Mexico or USA or contact with someone with Swine Flu
If you are worried you may have flu please DO NOT come to the Surgery - but DO telephone us for advice.
